Long Description
The kidneys are one of the most vital organs in your body. They remove all the waste products and excess water from your blood, turning them into urine for you pass safely.
A urine sample is examined under the microscope for blood cells, pus cells and casts (cells and mucous that collect in the kidney before passing into the urine). Protein may be detected where there is kidney disease or damage.
Free liver function tests are also included, which check the level of bilirubin (a product of haemoglobin breakdown that is removed from the body) and various important enzymes which are vital for the liver to function correctly. A comprehensive cholesterol assessment is also included, with diabetes, gout and lipid tests establishing your risk factors.
Special Instructions
Fast 8 - 10 hrs prior to sample being taken. Do not consume alcohol 24 hrs before test or cease prescribed medication without consulting your Doctor.
